About

My name is Lisa, and I am a children’s writer and artist based out of the Midlands in Ireland.

I grew up in Ireland with a few years in San Francisco at different points in my life. My childhood was dotted with me creating stories and drawings, which are essentially the same items in different packages now. The art I create is centered around an exploration of a specific emotion whether that is through writing or painting.

Writing

I love to write about magic in the mundane.

The stories I write are always set in our world, I just happen to write about the magic hidden in plain sight. I mostly write about feelings that might be tough to label as a child, like grief or anxiety, and I hope to create a space for adults to talk about difficult topics with the kids in their lives with my writing as the common ground. My work in progress is a children’s picture book called Dogs Get Homesick Too, and you can find my other writing pieces here.

Illustration

My illustration style consists of organic shapes, mottled textures, and rich but muted colors with lots of hidden easter eggs.

Art

My art is usually abstract nature or landscapes focused on a single emotion expressed through color, texture, and light with acrylic paints. When there is an emotion that I can’t shake, I know it’s time to paint it and pray it stays around long enough for me to finish the painting.

Get in touch

I’d love to hear from you in any capacity, but especially if you are a writer, illustrator, artist, or a literary agent.
